Blaze Bayley Live Footage

Fan-filmed video footage of Blaze Bayley's October 4, 2008 performance at the Metieval festival in East Yorkshire, UK can be viewed at Blabbermouth.net (clips uploaded by "Hullrocks").

Blaze's wife/manager Debbie Hartland, died in late September after suffering a brain hemorrhage while in the hospital.

Bayley's new album, "The Man Who Would Not Die", was mixed by former Wolfsbane guitarist Jase Edwards at Jase's studio in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. Released on July 7 via Bayley's own independent label (with additional licensing to various countries), the CD was engineered by James Dunkley, produced by Blaze Bayley and it takes Blaze in new songwriting directions, ushering in a new phase of an already renowned career. It is also the first recorded showcase for Blaze's new lineup.

Nicko McBrain Takes Part in Drum Event

According to the Miami Herald, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) and Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Nile, Today is the Day) are among the "celebrity" drummers who took part in The Big Beat, a event held at nine North American locations on November 2 which aimed to set a Guinness world record and raise money for public school music programs.

The record is not confirmed by Guinness yet but likely will stand at nearly 3,000 for the largest number of drummers on full sets to play together at one time.

Drummers, under the networking umbrella of Five-Star Drum Shops drum association, pooled efforts in Hollywood, Fla.; Depew, N.Y.; Columbus and Willowick, Ohio; Kirkland, Wash.; Tulsa, Okla.; Memphis; Houston; and Toronto.

People of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels pounded Bang the Drum Quickly for 15 minutes.

Jeffrey Lee, owner of Resurrection Drums in Hollywood (which hosted the Florida event), said the idea was born at Woodstick, an annual drum festival staged by Donn Bennett Drum Studio near Seattle. Last year, 533 Woodstick drummers broke a record for drum sets played at one location.

DiAnno: "Who Cares?" Anout Iron Maiden

Paul DiAnno continues to endear himself to Maiden fans in a recent interview with Rockinnet.com. An excerpt from the chat is below:

Rockonnet.com: What do you think about Iron Maiden (these days)?
Di'Anno: "Who cares!!"

Rockonnet.com: You rock more?
Di'Anno: "I think we do, yeah. We(Euro)re not here for money making. We play for very little money nowadays. I mean, we don(Euro)t need the money. I mean we sold; well I sold about 30 million records. So I don(Euro)t really care (Euro) It(Euro)s not about the money. We just love to play."

Rockonnet.com: Where do you have the biggest fan base in the world?
Di'Anno: "Well, we have been concerting Europe at the moment, but I would obviously say Brazil and United States. But Europe is fantastic because we did the Wacken festival three years ago - 45,000 people going absolutely nuts. We did Sweden Rock (recently). Fucking 100,000 people going absolutely crazy. It(Euro)s great. We win them over (the fans) where ever we go. I think what it is(Euro)not because we are great musicians and stuff like that. I think it(Euro)s because we are just normal people. You know. I think the audience, the fans and kids that come to see us understand that we are just a bunch of idiots that go out there and have fun. That(Euro)s what it(Euro)s about, really. It doesn(Euro)t really matter I mean. I(Euro)ve sold (lots of) records. It ain(Euro)t the money. It never has been and never will be. I(Euro)d play for hamburger and beer at the end of the day because I love to play. So that(Euro)s what it(Euro)s all about for me."

Interview with Bruce Dickinson

"We've never been as big as we are now", says Dickinson, "it's quite amazing."

Maiden, with more than 70 million record sales under their belts so far, show no sign of slowing down. The Somewhere Back In Time tour, as the name suggests, was a greatest hits show focusing on their eighties output.

Bruce said: "Most of the new audience probably got into the band around eight or nine years ago. A kid who was 14 when he bought that album is now 22 or 23. So he's bought the last three albums and then discovered the legacy records, which he's never heard us play live. So this show for him is amazing. It's like Led Zeppelin getting back together once a week and saying You know what? We WILL do 'Stairway To Heaven'. And that excitement comes across. Young fans make for great audiences."

Blazefans.com Domain For Sale

After many years of building and running Blazefans.com I have decided I no longer have the time or desire to run it anymore. Blazefans.com was once the biggest Blaze Bayley fansite on the net bringing in enough money through Google ad revenue to cover its costs.

If anyone is interested in taking the domain name off me I am open to serious bids. If someone wants to re-open Blazefans I have the original website content available and would be happy to share it. I can also offer a small amount of web space for a small monthly fee if you need it.

If anyone is genuinely interested in purchasing the domain then please contact me at realworld@blazefans.com

Eddie Flag Decorates Spanish Town Hall

As Maiden aren't doing much, we'll continue to bring you strange news. Here's from Bravewords.com:

"According to Guardian.co.uk, Eddie the Head, the demoniacal mascot of the British heavy metal group Iron Maiden, has made his way into the debating chamber of a Spanish town hall.

Eddie's cadaverous face appears regularly at council meetings in the town of Villava, in Navarre, as part of a war of political symbols between local parties.

Basque separatist councillors insist on hanging the Basque flag on their desks during debates, upsetting other politicians at the town hall. Most dislike the idea of the Navarre region being treated as part of the Basque country.

The Socialists have responded by hanging an Iron Maiden flag on their desks. The Socialist leader, José Luis Uriz, said: "The Iron Maiden flag means a lot to me. If I have to put up with their flag, they'll have to put up with Eddie's face."

The conservative Navarrese People's Union party has joined the protest. Its councillors now hang the flag of the local La Liga football club, Osasuna, from their desks."

Ex-Bandmate of Janick "Killed in Street Fall"

Bit of news I stumbled upon about an old band mate of Janicks. Contains some factual inaccuracies about Janick but I am assuming the rest is true.

A HEAVY metal drummer who moved to London with his Iron Maiden guitarist friend to form a cult 1970s band died after hitting his head on a pavement while having a fit, an inquest heard this week.
Graeme Crallan (Euro) known in the rock fraternity by the affectionate nickname (Euro)Crash(Euro) (Euro) was standing outside his home at the corner of York Way and Wharfdale Road in King(Euro)s Cross when a sudden fit took hold of his body.
The tragic episode in July left him (Euro)brain stem dead(Euro), according to pathologist Dr Freddie Patel. He was taken to Whittington Hospital in Archway and then transferred to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, where he died on July 27.
Mr Crallan, 50, formed the rock group White Spirit with Janick Gers, a friend from his hometown of Hartlepool who went on to found legendary rock band Iron Maiden.
